Born in 1996 in Svitavy, Czech Republic, Eva Yurková lives and works in Vienna, Austria. Yurková graduated from Painting and Printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig and later on, from Vienna’s University of Applied Arts where she studied Graphics and Printmaking. Known for her multifaceted work with collaging linocut, woodcut, colored papers and oil, she creates figurative landscapes, with both realistic and fantastical environments into which she sets her characters. With streamlined body forms, her figures are often female identifying, who are either alone or seen interacting with bodies similar to themselves. Set against surreal scenes with overlapping  floral and environmental elements, Yurková's dream-like landscapes evoke enraptured fantasy. In this way, Yurková portrays moments of public intimacy, but also a rejection of the systematic norms in which the gaze towards the female body is embedded.

The series Beach Body began during a road trip through the Balkans, when Yurková frequently visited swimming spots such as lakes, rivers, public pools, thermal baths, and beaches. Throughout the journey, she documented her own body as well as the bodies she encountered, observing how they transform in proximity to water. By focusing on singular figures, she rendered them monumental. At times, the bodies extend across the entire picture plane; at others, they partially conceal themselves behind foreground plants, which create an illusion of privacy.
These motifs later evolved into the ongoing Beach Body series, initiated in 2021. With each holiday spent near water, new works continue to emerge.

Works from Pansy series were originally created for an exhibition in the former Klinik Penzing in Vienna, designed by the architect Otto Wagner. Yurková drew inspiration from an architectural detail of the building’s windows—a square within a square, a frame within a frame.
Executed in oil on wood, the paint is rolled onto the panels as if intended for printing, but left untouched; after drying, the artist carves into the surface, producing a relief-like effect. The works depict fragments of bodies and pansies. Pansies serve as a symbol of boundaries and demarcation, often defining front gardens and marking the division between private and public space, between one’s own and another’s.
The “windows” in the compositions offer a view of the body, though it remains ambiguous whether it is inside or outside. This ambiguity places the viewer in a state of subtle ambivalence and a position of voyeuristic observation. The delicate rendering of plants and the body is contained within a steel frame, creating a paradox between the fragility of the subject and the starkness of the gaze imposed upon it.

Czech-born Eva Yurková now lives and works in Vienna, Austria. Trained in traditional printmaking, her aesthetic ideas always stem from an imaginary printing press. Working in layers, in fields of color and shapes, the bodies often at the center of her works are a matrix made of oil, wood, paper, linoleum or clay, or a mix of these materials. With Touché, Yurková works with sharp materials and heavy metals such as steel. Inspired by the hellenistic sculpture "Boy with Thorn", the artist reflects on the sense of discomfort that can be found beyond beauty, like a moment of itch, where there is an urge to stop and pull the thorn out of the heel, or in this case out of various parts of the female body, perhaps her own. Ordinary pain comes to stand next to the ideal beauty of God and Goddesses. The sharp stars are purposefully glazed within the body of the figure to enhance this sense of discomfort, however a corporeal or spiritual feeling known to many.
